THE MENTOR-AS-CHANGEMAKER PROJECT
"The demand for repetitive work has fallen exponentially over the last three centuries while over that same time frame the rate of change has increased exponentially.  Those who can’t adapt to change or contribute to change will fall behind.”  Therefore, everyone, irrespective of age or station in life, needs to be a “changemaker.”

Bill Drayton, the founder of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public

Origins.  Upon completion of the virtual group mentoring program's pilots in Silicon Valley from 2019-21, I left with a deep sense of satisfaction -- both in our leadership team and in the youth who were our equal partners.  Yet, I knew we still had not addressed a more fundamental need -- how to equip our under-resourced youth with the capacity FOR THEY THEMSELVES to become initiators of meaningful and significant change in their own lives.

That's what Bill Drayton, the founder of Ashoka, means when he says "everyone a changemaker."

It was then that realized that there could be another set of tools in our work with under-resourced youth.  I would call it "The Mentor-as-Changemaker."

The Mentor-as-Changemaker Project is a five-session workshop that draws upon the work of prominent social entrepreneurs. Using the case study method as our baseline, here's how it works:
  • You first uncover specific ways that prevent youth from developing their potential  It's what we call "making the map."
  • Then, you learn how to take a deeper dive into what's behind this problem.  It's what we call "minding the gaps."
  • And finally you learn how to build a program to address the specific needs.  It's what we call "building the app".

The Differentiators:
  • Delivery -- We focus on delivering this platform through multi-generational groups of adults and youth.
  • Teamwork -- The Mentor Changemaker -- who by definition is a diagnostician, a designer, an advocate and an investor all rolled into one -- needs to be a team player in order to uncover and unleash s variety of  community resources.

Here's our fee structure.
